Entercom Continues To Push Boundaries As Local DJs Spout Anti-Gay Remarks Online

Radio personalities have to push the boundaries of political correctness to survive in an industry that faces fierce competition from the internet and the iPod, but some are questioning the timing and appropriateness of a handful of comments left by two local Entercom jocks on their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Mike "Mikey" Muscatello, creative director and talent for KRXQ, was understandably frustrated when he arrived at the air studio for Sacramento-based 98Rock Wednesday afternoon to find someone had downloaded a virus on his computer. But it's how the jock chose to vent his frustration to listeners that has some raising eyebrows.

"Somebody gave my computer in my studio AIDS," Muscatello wrote on Facebook in reference to the deadly virus most commonly associated with gay and bisexual individuals.

Muscatello repeated the comment on his Twitter page: "Computer has AIDS...fml (fuck my life)."

Muscatello works for KRXQ, a radio station owned by Entercom Sacramento. Entercom has become synonymous in Sacramento for pushing the boundaries of radio, sometimes achieving unexpected results that stir up controversy.

In 2006, a water-drinking contest led to the death of a contestant at Entercom-owned KDND "107.9 The End," and in 2009 three morning show personalities came under fire by a gay and lesbian advocacy group known as GLAAD after two of the hosts made derogatory comments against transgender children.

Report: Verizon To Begin Selling Apple iPhone In 2011

The Apple iPhone will be coming to Verizon Wireless in 2011, according to information obtained by the Wall Street Journal newspaper.

A move to Verizon would end Apple's contract with AT&T, which has been the exclusive carrier of the iPhone since its introduction in 2007.

The new iPhone would be mass produced in late 2010 and available for consumers in 2011. The iPhone will be the same phone sold by Apple now, with slightly modified technology for Verizon's cellular network.

An iPhone produced with CDMA technology to run on Verizon's network would also be able to run on Sprint's network, assuming the phone is unlocked. Currently, unlocked or "jailbroken" iPhone can run on both AT&T and T-Mobile's GSM network.

Schwarzenegger: Obama Will Likely Win In 2012

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says he's confident President Barack Obama will retain the office of the White House in 2012 even if Congressional Democrats cannot retain their power in the House and the Senate.

Speaking to Germany's "Der Spiegel" newspaper, the Governor said he's not confident his party could find an adequate Republican candidate to run against Obama in two years.

"I assume that Obama will get a second term in office," Schwarzenegger said to the newspaper. "Obama can watch [the midterm elections] casually, knowing that [afterward] he will be in a much better position."
